Mark Twain Prize for American Humor

The Mark Twain Prize is awarded annually by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts since 1998 for American Humor. Named after the author Mark Twain, the price of America 's most humorous award.

The 2007 award, marking the 10 year anniversary of the prize, was first held in the Opera House at the Kennedy Center. The announcers were Bob Costas, Robert De Niro, Danny DeVito, Jimmy Fallon, Whoopi Goldberg, John Goodman, David Letterman, Jon Lovitz, Rob Reiner, Paul Shaffer, Martin Short, Joe Torre, Barbara Walters and Robin Williams.

Bill Cosby took the prize to only in 2009, after he had rejected his nomination twice before.
