Markus Gisdol

Markus Gisdol ( born August 17, 1969 in Geislingen ) is a German football coach and former player. He is the head coach of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

Career

Career as a player

For the youth of the SC Geislingen the midfielder was established in 1987 for the first time used in the first team of the club in the Amateur Oberliga Baden- Württemberg. By 1990, he met in 70 games eight times. In the summer of 1990 Gisdol joined the Amateur Oberliga side SSV Reutlingen 05, for whom he played 30 games in 1992, scoring three goals. In 1992 he returned to SC Geislingen and denied there 33 games in five matches. The following year he went to league rivals 1.FC Pforzheim, he left again in 19 league games after a year and two hits. At the age of 27 years Gisdol ended his playing career due to a serious knee injury.

Career as a coach

Between 1997 and 1999 Gisdol worked as coach of TSG Salach. Then he coached from 2000 to 2002 the FTSV cake, 2002-2005 SC Geislingen and from 2005 to 2007, the U-17 team of VfB Stuttgart. In the summer of 2007, he became coach of the SG Sonnenhof Großaspach, but resigned after disputes with the Board in November 2007. For the season 2008/ 09 he took over SSV Ulm 1846, with whom he reached the seventh place in the table in the newly formed Regionalliga Süd. At the end of the season he left Ulm again and moved to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, where he coached the second team. In March 2011, he was assistant coach Ralf Rangnick at FC Schalke 04 and then also assisted his successor Huub Stevens. On April 2, 2013 Gisdol took the stand on the second to last place in the table Bundesliga team TSG 1899 Hoffenheim from previously exempted Marco Kurz. After victories in the relegation matches against 1 FC Kaiserslautern Gisdol led the TSG for relegation.
