Martha Norelius

Martha Norelius ( born January 20, 1908 in Stockholm, † September 23, 1955 in St. Louis) was an American swimmer.

It was from her father Charles Norelius, who started at the Summer Olympics for Sweden in 1906, trained. At 15, she was about 400 m freestyle Olympic gold medalist at the 1924 Olympics. This success could be repeated at the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam. She also won gold with the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay.

Martha Norilius was married from 1930 to 1938 with the Canadian rower and Olympic champion Joe Wright, and then two more times. In 1967, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
