Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. is a demonstration of the American heavy metal band Slipknot. It is considered the first release of the band.

Formation

After the founding of Slipknot in 1995, did you look with producer Sean McMahon together and took the demo to within seven months. The album was recorded at SR Audio, in her home in Des Moines Iowa. There, Slipknot took later on also their self-titled debut album. The band had to finance the album themselves. Overall, it came at the cost of $ 40,000. When the album was abgemixt, founding member Donnie Steele left the band. Reasons were that he no longer considered it appropriate because of his religion to be a member of Slipknot. He was replaced by Mick Thomson. By publishing mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat., Slipknot aroused the interest of major record labels. The demo was sold in an edition of 1,000 copies and is therefore considered collectible.

Style

On the demo experimented Slipknot more than they did on their later albums. For example, the song Confessions oriented at Jazz In other songs, the guitars have been also influenced by the radio. Nevertheless, it can be seen on some of the songs which way the band has chosen later. Examples include Slipknot or Only One.

  • Mick Thomson is given in the booklet of the demo as a guitarist, although he was not involved in the recording.
