Matt McKnight

Matt McKnight ( born June 14, 1984 in Halkirk, Alberta ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays for the Bietigheim Steelers DEL2 since 2013.

Career

McKnight played from 2002 to 2004 in the Alberta Junior Hockey League for the Camrose Kodiaks and won with his team in 2003 as a play-off winners the Rogers Wireless Cup. From the Dallas Stars, he was drafted in the NHL Entry Draft in 2004 in the ninth round at 280th place. Subsequently he moved to the United States and played four seasons at the University of Minnesota Duluth in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

From this purely American College Football National Collegiate Athletic Association in 2008, he moved to the ECHL, where he after a few games for the Las Vegas Wranglers at the Idaho Steelheads, the farm team of the NHL team Dallas Stars hired. After an injury in the season 2010/11 he was only used in 16 games.

He then ventured into the 2011/12 season to move to Europe and joined as his previous team-mate Mark Derlago the Lusatian foxes on.
