Matthé Pronk

Matthé Pronk (born 1 July 1974 in Warmenhuizen ) is a Dutch racing cyclist.

Cycling career

Matthé Pronk was established in 1999 in the Dutch cycling team Rabobank professional. He continued there until 2002. When his contract is not extended, he moved to the smaller team Bankgiroloterij and there was an immediate success. He won Nokere Koerse and Druivenkoers. In 2003 he won the Tour in Noord -Nederland. The following year, he joined the Belgian Professional Continental team MrBookmaker.com, which was later renamed Unibet.com and retired the end of 2007 from cycling. Following this success, Team Cycle Collstrop Pronk started in 2008, before joining the team Vacansoleil 2009.

Together with the pacemaker Joop Zijlaard Pronk presented on 18 November 2004 in Alkmaar a new hour world record over 66.017 kilometers on. In April 2010, Pronk announced his retirement from professional cycling in order to devote himself more to his studies and his family.

Shortly after Pronk stepped back from retirement. In December 2010, he finished with pacemaker Peter peasant second place in the Dutch Championship stayer behind Patrick Kos with Willem Fack. In January 2012 was Matté Pronk Netherlands in Alkmaar Master of the uprights 2011/2012 with pacemaker Peter peasant. The other places occupied Jos Pronk with Sam Mooj and European champion Patrick Kos with Willem Fack. In December 2012, both these titles defended before Patrick Kos with pacemaker Willem Fack and Raymond Rol with Christian Dippel.

Private

Matthé Pronk comes from a cycling family. His father, who already late two -time world champion of the Amateur Stayers Mattheus and his brother Jos are also cyclists. The former T -Mobile rider Bas Giling is his nephew.
