Matthias Röhr

Matthias " Gonzo " tube ( born April 16, 1962 in Frankfurt -Bockenheim ) is a German guitarist, best known as a member of the Böhse Onkelz. His nickname is Gonzo the album title Double Live Gonzo by Ted Nugent borrowed, which he constantly in an Aldi bag carried with him. Since the dissolution of the band he calls himself Matt Roehr. He stands at Rookies & Kings, the label of Frei.Wild, under contract since 2012.

Life

Rohr grew up in a Catholic family in the Frankfurt area. Your father got the four siblings rarely seen since he was busy during the week in his grocery store, and later in his own kiosk opened in Frankfurt. Rohrs family often changed their place of residence, but remained always in the Frankfurt area.

Career

Böhse Onkelz

When he came to the Frankfurt punk scene in 1980, he had already played in several bands. The most famous and final volume, in which he played before joining the Böhse Onkelz, was " Antibodies". In 1981 he went as a fourth member in Böhse Onkelz, in which he played bass. Even before the first releases of Böhse Onkelz on the sampler soundtrack to the demise of two, he moved back to guitar. Stephan Weidner then took over the bass playing. Rohr was in nearly all the songs on a solo of his hand, which was contrary to the then punk music, whose playful level was not always high.

Solo career

2007 Rohr finished the recording of his first solo project. It is entitled " Barra da Tijuca " and was published on 26 October 2007. In this Roehr combines musical elements from various musical genres such as jazz, blues, funk and hard rock. Journals such as Metal Hammer and numerous music sites praised Rohrs work which he self-produced and in which he also wrote the texts themselves. He was supported by the musicians Charlie Huhn ( vocals, including Gary Moore, Ted Nugent, Victory ), Glaucio Ayala (drums, including Engenheiros do Hawaii, Linox ), Marcelo Linhares (bass ) and Stephan Weiler ( guest player at the keyboard of the Böhse Onkelz ). At the presentation of his album he came to Germany in January 2008. Kick off the Barra da Tijuca - tour was on January 6, 2008 in Dortmund Live Station. On this tour and the live album " UHAD2BTHERE was! - Live Bootleg Vol 1 ". On the CD recordings of concerts from Hanover and Berlin are included as well as a bonus three videos, which were included in Neu-Isenburg ( Hugenottenhalle ).

In April 2009, Matthias Rohr took his band 's second studio album "Out of the Great Depression" in the Chaton Studios Phoenix (Arizona ) to.
