Max Bennett (musician)

Max Bennett ( born May 24, 1928 in Des Moines, Iowa ) is an American jazz bassist. He played with Stan Kenton, Terry Gibbs, and Charlie Mariano.

Earlier in his career played at Bennett Herbie Fields 1949, Georgie Auld, Terry Gibbs and Charlie Ventura 1950-51, served from 1951-53 in the U.S. Army in 1954 and worked with Stan Kenton. Bennett then led his own formation and accompanied the singers Peggy Lee 1955-56, Ella Fitzgerald 1957-58 and played 1959 Terry Gibbs. In addition, Max Bennett recorded with the Sauter - Finegan Orchestra (1954 ), Charlie Mariano, Conte Candoli, Bob Cooper, Bill Holman, Stan Levey, Lou Levy, Coleman Hawkins, Jack Montrose and Frank Zappa.
