Maynard James Keenan

Maynard James Keenan ( born April 17, 1964 in Ravenna, Ohio, as James Herbert Keenan) is an American singer, record producer, actor and winemaker. He is best known as the frontman of the progressive metal band Tool, the progressive rock band A Perfect Circle as well as head of the music project Puscifer.

Biography

1982 Keenan joined the U.S. Army, where he led the United States Military Academy attended from 1983 to 1984. In 1984 he left the army to pursue his musical career. In the following years he attended because of the Kendall College of Art and Design in Michigan.

As of 1989, Keenan was lead singer of the punk band Green Jellÿ. 1992 EP Opiate of tool has been released. In 1993 the first album Undertow. After three years, the album Ænima was released, which brought commercial success of the band.

Previously, he sang in 1992 nor in Know Your Enemy by Rage Against the Machine with whose eponymous album yet appeared in the same year. Thus he became friends with the band, with whom he still occasionally occurs today.

In 1994 he recorded with Tom Morello and Brad Wilk ( Rage Against the Machine) and Billy Gould ( Faith No More) under the band name Shandi 's Addiction Song Calling Dr Love for a tribute album of cover versions of songs by the hard rock band KISS on.

2000 album White Pony by Deftones was released where he can be heard on the song Passenger along with the lead singer of Deftones, Chino Moreno. After disputes with the label of tool and its foundation, the tool granted the absolute artistic freedom, Keenan founded with Billy Howerdel and Paz Lenchantin the band A Perfect Circle and released the album Mer de Noms.

Published in 2001, Keenan with Tool 's long awaited third album Lateralus - appeared before the Special Edition DVD or VHS Salival, whereupon all previously published videos of the band and some tour performances of the band are included. He also starred in the 2002 film Bikini Bandits the devil.

2003 followed the second A- Perfect- Circle - Thirteenth Step album, which was supposed to be completed much earlier, but was delayed repeatedly due to a prolonged tool tour.

On 2 November 2004 in time for the U.S. presidential election, the concept album Emotive appeared with cover versions of famous peace and protest songs. This surprised the fans, because the otherwise closed and introverted Keenan presented himself and his opinion exceptionally open.

In 2005 he sang at a benefit concert in Seattle for victims of the tsunami in late 2004. February 28, 2005, the short film Sleeping Dogs Lie was officially released in the Keenan plays the role of Deputy Sheriff Lance. Brad Wilk also had a supporting role in this film. The film music was composed, among others, by A Perfect Circle.

2006 saw the fourth Tool album 10,000 Days. He also began his side project Puscifer.

In 2010, a documentary was released on his person and his mentor Eric Glomski as well as about his wine under the title Blood Into Wine. During the film in the U.S. was in the theaters, he appeared in 2011 in German-speaking directly to DVD.
