Meeksi Parish

Meeksi ( German: Meeks ) is a rural municipality in the Estonian Tartu county with an area of 143.5 km ². It has 648 inhabitants ( 2012).

The municipality is 55 km from Tartu. A large part of its territory is covered by forests and moors. Besides the village Meeksi for rural commune includes the villages Aravu, Haavametsa, Jõepera, Järvselja, Meerapalu, Mehikoorma, Parapalu, Roka and Sikakurmu.

Landscape worth seeing is the shoreline on Lake Peipus. The village Mehikoorma ( German: Mehikorm ) is one of the oldest settlements on Lake Peipus. It was first mentioned in connection with the battle on frozen Lake Peipus 1242.
