Mercedes-Benz Championship (European Tour)

The Mercedes Benz Championship was until 2009 one of two international golf tournaments on the European Tour in Germany. It was held ( with a break in 2006 ) since 1987 year. By 2005, the tournament was called German Masters.

From 1987 to 1993, the tournament at the Stuttgart Golf Club Solitude was subsequently discharged until 1997 at the Golf Club Motzener See in Berlin. Since 1998, the tournament was held at the Golf Club Gut Lärchenhof in Pulheim.

The Mercedes Benz Championship were on the BMW International Open in Munich as the second most important golf tournament in Germany. Since the name change of 2007, the tournament was played according to the Winners Only principle, which means that only players were qualified, who had won in the course of a tournament on the European Tour. In addition, the tournament has been played since then without a cut.

In summer 2009, Mercedes announced to resign as title sponsor.

With four hits (1989, 1991, 1997, 2001), Bernhard Langer, which occurs at the same time as the organizer of the tournament, a record title holder.
