Pádraig Harrington

Pádraig Harrington ( born August 31, 1971 in Ballyroan, Dublin ) is an Irish professional golfer who plays on both the PGA European Tour and the U.S. PGA Tour. He is a three-time major winner.

Career

After a successful amateur career in which he won the coveted Walker Cup in 1995 with the team from Great Britain & Ireland, he became a professional and played from 1996 on the European Tour. Already in the same year, Harrington scored the first tournament victory at the Spanish Open, but then he developed in the truest sense of the word to the Eternal Second. Alone at the end of the 1999 season, he had to be booked four second places in five events. As of 2000, the tide turned and he reached up to 2004 at least one win per year. Harrington's father Patrick ( " Paddy " ) was a noted athlete in Ireland. He practiced in Cork from the national sports of hurling and Gaelic football.
