Sergio García

Sergio García (nicknamed El Niño ) ( born January 9, 1980 in Castellon de la Plana, Spain) is a professional golfer.

Life

Sergio Garcia already was successful as an amateur. In addition to amateur tournaments he won in 1997 with the Catalonian Open Championship a professional tournament.

In 1999 he moved with Handicap 5 turned professional. In his first year as a pro, he finished behind Tiger Woods in second place at the U.S. PGA Championship at Medinah. This was followed by victories on the American and European tour.

In 2000 he was awarded the "Sports Oscar " award for best newcomer.

Five times in a row ( since 1999) he stood in the European Ryder Cup team. 2006 Garcia was with four wins in five games the most successful players, and just had to admit defeat in the final single - Match Play Stewart Cink.
