Paul Broadhurst

Paul Broadhurst ( born August 14, 1965 in Atherstone, Warwickshire ) is an English professional golfer on the PGA European Tour. With over 500 appearances, he is one of the veterans of that great European tournament series.

Broadhurst won in 1988 as best amateur at the Open Championship and the coveted Silver Medal in the same year professional golfer. The following year he joined the European Tour, taking down his first tournament victory at the Credit Lyonnais Cannes Open 1989, which helped him at the end of the season for the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award ( best newcomer ). Further victories on the tour followed in 1991, 1993 and 1995. In 1996 Broadhurst reached with a 9th place his best finish on the European Tour Order of Merit.

In the second round of the Dubai Desert Classic of 2000, Broadhurst injured his right hand so much that he had to suspend the remainder of the season. In the following two seasons, he could not find it again, and in 2003 succeeded Broadhurst again to reach full eligibility for the tour his game. In 2005, he won his fifth tournament victory at the Portuguese Open in 2006 and was able to defend that title successfully.

Paul Broadhurst is married since 1991 with his wife Lorraine and father of twins and two other children.
