Michał Ignerski

Michał Ignerski ( born August 13, 1980 in Lublin ) is a Polish basketball player. The Polish national team plays at the position of the forward since 2014 in Russia.

Career as a player

USA (1999-2003)

His childhood was spent Ignerski in Poland. In 1999 he went to the USA and played during his studies, first for college teams in junior colleges in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. In 2001 he moved to the Mississippi State University, where he played for the Bulldogs in the Southeastern Conference of the NCAA Division I.

Europe ( since 2003)

After his return to Europe, he played in his native Śląsk Wrocław, with whom he Polish Cup winners in 2004 and 2005. During the Cup in 2005, he was elected Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament. With Slask he won the regular season of the Polish League in 2004 and reached the play-off final. In 2006 he was again in the Polish play-off final with his new club Anwil Wloclawek. The next four years Ignerski played in the Spanish ACB League for the clubs from Seville and San Sebastian. During this time he was also a member of the Polish national team at the finals of the European Basketball Championship in 2009 in their own country, where one was eliminated in the second round.

Ignerski moved to Turkey in 2010 and reached Beşiktaş Istanbul, the Turkish Cup Final 2011. Then moved Ignerski in the Russian PBL to Nizhny Novgorod. In the season 2011/12 he was elected MVP of the month of January in the VTB United League. In March 2012, he left the club and moved to the end of the season to the Russian competitors locomotive Kuban Krasnodar. After the season, he went to Italy to play in the top division Serie A for the Sardinian club Dinamo from Sassari. Together with the servant brothers reached the team with the second place after the main round, the best ever placement for the club. In the first round of the play -offs for the championship, however, would retire in seven games against the established team of Lenovo Cantu. During the summer break in 2013 Ignerski took with the Polish national team, however, under the guidance of German coach Dirk Bauer man lost the first four group matches and only the meaningless final group game against host Slovenia won what the disappointing early exit meant. For the following season 2013/14 Ignerski got a contract with the Italian runner Acea Virtus from the capital city of Rome, but completed only four championship stakes early in the season before the contract was terminated again. Early 2014 Ignerski got a new contract in Russia, where he plays for the Euro Challenge Krasnye Krylia titleholder from Samara.
