Mikael Appelgren

Kent Mikael Appelgren (born 15 October 1961, in Stockholm, Sweden) was in the 1980s and 1990s, to the best table tennis players in the world.

Career

The left-hander Mikael Appelgren was three times ( 1982,1988,1990 ) European champion in men's singles. He twice won the European ranking tournament " European Top 12" (1982 and 1990). With the Swedish team, he won three world titles and five European championships. In 1983 he also won the World Cup. The four-time Swedish champion played from 1980 for several years in the German Bundesliga for the SSV Reutlingen 05 ( previously Spårvägen Stockholm ) and returned back to Sweden in 1986. In 1996 he moved from Stockholm to Ängby SK TTF Bad Honnef, a year later for TTK Würzburg Hofbräuhaus, around 1999 again return to Ängby SK Stockholm.

2012 was Appelgren Senior World Champion in the age group Ü50.

Mikael Appelgren is married and has a son and a daughter, Marlene (* 1993), with which he won at the Swedish National Championship bronze in mixed doubles in 2013. With his wife, Marita, he participated in the Senior European Championships 2013.
