Mike Bruner

Michael " Mike" Bruner ( born July 23, 1956 in Omaha ) is a retired American swimmer.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he was over 200 m butterfly Olympic champion and he also won the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay gold medal. Two years later he was at the World Swimming Championships in Berlin in 1978 over 200m butterfly world champion. Due to the Olympic boycott of the United States, he could not defend his Olympic title at both the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. But he was elected this year to America's Swimmer of the Year.

In 1988 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
