Morsø Municipality

Morsø Kommune is a municipality of Denmark, in the region of Nordjylland. It extends over an area of ​​366.40 km ² and has 21 189 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The seat of government is in Nykøbing. The community mainly comprises the island of Mors in the Limfjord and several smaller islands (eg Agerø ). The rural communities in this area were divided into two before 1970 Harden: Morsø Morsø Sønder Herred and Nørre Herred (Danish for: Morsø North and Südharde ).

Even before the municipal reform 1970, some of these Sogne merged into larger rural communities.

Within the North Harde there were the following groupings

Vejerslev Sogn from the North Harde joined with Blidstrup Sogn together from the Südharde for rural community Vejerslev - Bildstrup.

Within the Südharde there were the following groupings:

  • Frøslev Sogn Sogn and Mollerup (Town Frøslev Mollerup )
  • Karby Sogn, Hvidbjerg Sogn Sogn and Redsted (Town Karby - Hvidbjerg Redsted )
  • Ljørslev Sogn Sogn and Ørding (Town Ljørslev - Ørding )
  • Lødderup Sognund Elsø Sogn (Town Lødderup - Elsø )
  • Tæbring Sogn, Ovtrup Sogn Sogn and Rakkeby (Town Tæbring - Ovtrup - Rakkeby )
  • Øster Assels Sogn Sogn and Vester Assels (Town Øster Assels - Vester Assels )

Nykøbing Sogn in Südharde remained untouched up to local government reform in 1970. In this municipal reform both Harden for Morsø municipality were summarized, as one of the few preserved in Denmark in full at the next administrative reform of 2007. They moved from Viborg Amt in the new region Nordjylland.

Community partnerships

Since 1970 there has been twinned with Misburg that is carried on today by the incorporation of Hanover township Misburg -Anderten. Other partnerships have been signed with Bollnäs in Sweden, Norway and Flekkefjord Kankaanpää in Finland and Bukoba in Tanzania (since 1983).
