Mound City is a small town ( with a status of "City" ) and the administrative seat of Pulaski County in the south of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, Mound City had 588 inhabitants.
Geography
Mound City is located at 37 ° 05'07 " north latitude and 89 ° 09'45 " west longitude and stretches over 2 km ². The town lies at the mouth of the Cache River into the Ohio River, which forms the border with Kentucky. The Mississippi River which separates Illinois from Missouri, is located 8 km west of the border with Indiana extends 175 km east.

Traffic
The oldest road is actually the Ohio River, on which an important part of the flow of goods transported through the eastern center of the USA today. The river is navigable for large barges held by dams, one of which is the lowest in the flow direction in 14 km northeast of Mound City located Olmsted.
On the western edge of Mound City Interstate 57 runs, are connected together via the Chicago and Memphis. Through the center of Mound City leads the running along the Ohio Illinois State Route 34 All other roads are within city roads, child, partly unpaved roadways.
The Cairo Regional Airport is a small airfield located 9.7 km southwest of Mound City.
