Mound City is a small town ( with a status of "City" ) and the administrative seat of Pulaski County in the south of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, Mound City had 588 inhabitants.

Geography

Mound City is located at 37 ° 05'07 " north latitude and 89 ° 09'45 " west longitude and stretches over 2 km ². The town lies at the mouth of the Cache River into the Ohio River, which forms the border with Kentucky. The Mississippi River which separates Illinois from Missouri, is located 8 km west of the border with Indiana extends 175 km east.
