The Grandeur of the Seas is a cruise ship of Royal Caribbean International. Built in 1995 at Kværner Masa -Yards in Helsinki ship is part of the Vision class.

History

The ordered on 14 February 1994 the ship was built in 1995 /1996 in the yard number 492. The keel-laying ceremony took place on 1 March 1996 on 6 June 1995, the launching. Completion took place on 20 November 1996.

Incidents

On 20 April 2005 a 13 -meter hole was in Costa Maya, Mexico, torn in the hull. The hole was about 1.5 meters above the waterline. The 7- day cruise was shortened to five days. The ship was repaired two days in Costa Maya. The cruise line offered to the passengers to fly them back or to stay for the rest of the cruise aboard.

On May 27, 2013 broke on deck 3 of ship off the coast of the Bahamas from a fire. After three hours, the fire was extinguished. There was only damage to the stern on decks 3, 4 and 5 The ship was able to continue the trip to the Bahamas on its own and the passengers were returned to Freeport, Bahamas, flown.

Specifications

The propulsion of the ship is diesel electric. For the power supply four B & W Diesel engines are ( 12V48/60 ) are available. Furthermore, two emergency generators were used. The two fixed-pitch propellers driven by electric motors.
