The Voyager of the Seas is a 311.12 m long cruise ship owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.. , Operated by Royal Caribbean International. It was put into service in November 1999 and at the time was the largest cruise ship in the world. Most recently, she was overhauled in 2004.

Description

The Voyager of the Seas ( development name: " Project Eagle" ) was built as the first of five Voyager-class ships, at the Kvaerner Masa -Yards (now Aker Yards Finland AB) in Turku (Finland). The other ships are the Explorer of the Seas (NB 1345: 2000 ), Adventure of the Seas (NB 1346: 2001 ), Navigator of the Seas (NB 1347: 2002 ), Mariner of the Seas (NB 1348: 2003 ).

Special events

  • On 19 February 1999 broke out in the shipyard in Turku, a fire on deck 1 in the stern of the ship. It could be cleared within three and a half hours. Alterations / renovations

  • May 5, 2002: basic renovation in Floating the Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freetown Bahamas. It was never raised to date a cruise ship of this size in a floating dock out of the water.
