Mueang Ang Thong District

Amphoe Mueang Ang Thong ( Thai: อำเภอ เมือง อ่างทอง ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in Ang Thong province in the central region of Thailand. The capital of the district of Mueang Ang Thong Ang Thong is also called.

Location

Ang Thong is a little over 100 kilometers north of the capital Bangkok.

Geography

Neighboring districts are ( from the south clockwise) Amphoe Pa Mok which, Wiset Chai Chan, Pho Thong and Chaiyo in the province of Ang Thong and Amphoe Maha Rat in Ayutthaya province.

The main river of the district is the Chao Phraya River and Khlong Bang Kaeo.

History

DAs area of ​​today's district was also first mentioned in derVergangenheit " Amphoe Mueang ". His administration was built on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River opposite the Wat Chai Songkhram in Tambon Ban Hae.

In 1813 commissioned King Nang Klao ( Rama II ) the Chao Phraya Aphai Phuthon ( เจ้าพระยา อภัย ภูธร ) trying to build a dam by the Chao Phraya, to maintain the water level of Khlong Bang Kaeo year-round high enough for water transport. Since the project was not successful, the provincial administration was moved towards the mouth of Khlong Bang Kaeo at the east bank of the Chao Phraya River. At the same time the county government was moved. 1917, the district was renamed Bang Kaeo after the name of the central tambon. The district administration was about 300 meters south of the provincial government re- built in 1926. 1938, the county was renamed again in Amphoe Mueang Ang Thong.

Management

Amphoe Mueang Ang Thong is in 14 communes ( tambon) divided, further in 81 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

The city ( Mueang thesaban ) Ang Thong ( Thai เทศบาล เมือง อ่างทอง ) covers the whole tambon Talat Luang and Bang Kaeo as well as parts of the tambon Sala Daeng, Ban Hae, Ban It, Pho Sa and Yansue.

  • Phosa ( Thai เทศบาล ตำบล โพ สะ ) covers the whole tambon Phosa.
