Mukharby Kirzhinov

Mucharbi Nurbijewitsch Kirschinow (Russian Мухарби Нурбиевич Киржинов; * January 1, 1949 in Koschechabl, Adygea ) is a former Soviet weightlifter. He was 1972 Olympic champion in the Lightweight.

Career

Mucharbi Nurbijewitsch Kirschinow, a 1.60- meter great athlete, was released in 1970 for the first time on the international stage lift. A native of the North Caucasian autonomous republic of Adygea athletes belonged at that time to have a sports club in Moscow.

In 1971, he was first employed at an international championship, the World Cup in Lima. In the lightweight he came here in the Olympic triathlon at 432.5 kg ( 135-127,5-167,5 ) and finished with this performance the third place behind the two poles Zbigniew Kaczmarek and Waldemar Baszanowski.

In 1972 he competed at the European Championships in Constanta, where he obtained the lightweight 435 kg ( 135-127,5-170 ). He finished in behind Mladen Kutschew from Bulgaria, who scored 447.5 kg, and Zbigniew Kaczmarek, who came to 442.5 kg, the 3rd place. At the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 he therefore was not considered a favorite. Most experts tapped for a victory of Kutschew. Kirschinow surprised there but all the experts and the audience with a sensational performance. He scored in the Olympic triathlon 460 kg and managed it with 177.5 kg in pushing and with 455 kg and 460 kg in powerlifting three new world records. He certainly won the gold medal so before Mladen Kutschew (450 kg) and Zbigniew Kaczmarek ( 437.5 kg ).

After the Olympic Games in 1972, the Press was abolished by the International Weightlifting Federation. The competitions were from that date only from the cracking and the thrusting. Kirschinow to this new situation was grown and was in 1973 in the lightweight both European champion and world champion. At the European Championships in Madrid, he scored in single combat 302.5 kg and won with it before Mladen Kutschew who came to 295 kg and at the World Championships in Havana, he won with 305 kg and thus relegating Kutschew, who scored 300 kg, again on the 2nd place.

In 1974 Kirschinow won at the European Championships in Verona the title in a duel with 300 kg before Zbigniew Kaczmarek ( 297.5 kg ) and the Austrian Walter Legel, who came to 280 kg. At the World Championships this year in Manila he underwent three failed attempts in the Press. He therefore did not reach a duel result and remained unplaced. In thrusting he mastered 167.5 kg, which he finished in third place in this sub-discipline.

1975 achieved Kirschinow at the World Championships in Moscow 297.5 kg ( 127.5 to 170 ). With this performance, but he only reached the 5th place. The winner was his compatriot Petro Korol, who came to 312.5 kg. Then the career Kirschinows tended to an end. He appeared on any international championship more. About his future is not known.
