Nate Roberts (skier)

Nathan ( " Nate " ) Roberts ( born March 24, 1982 in Ogden, Utah) is an American freestyle skier. He specializes in the moguls and dual moguls mogul disciplines. He was moguls World Champion 2005.

Biography

At the age of three years, Roberts learned in Park City skiing, the age of seven, he played for the first time mogul competitions. From December 2001 he participated in the North American Continental Championship Nor- Am Cup in part. With a win and a second place, he decided in the winter of 2002 /03, the moguls discipline standings of the Nor -Am Cup for themselves. His debut in the Freestyle World Cup had Roberts on 11 January 2003; in Mont- Tremblant he was 28 and won his first World Cup points. The best result in his debut season was a 18th place.

The first World Cup victory could Roberts celebrate at Madonna di Campiglio on 20 December 2003. This was followed by a second place as well as several top- 10 finishes in the winter 2003/04. On January 22, 2005 in Fernie he achieved his second World Cup victory. Due to unstable performance in the course of the 2004/05 season Roberts was before the 2005 World Championships in Ruka not to the inner circle of favorites. However, he narrowly beat the Canadians Marc -André Moreau and the Australian Dale Begg -Smith, the gold medal in the moguls competition. At the end of the season he was U.S. champion in both Moguls disciplines.

Although Roberts was in the World Cup season 2005/ 06 to achieve a podium finish, but he was not considered for the 2006 Winter Olympics. In the following winter he won two World Cup events, in Deer Valley and in Inawashiro. At the 2007 World Championships Roberts won the moguls bronze medal, behind the Canadian Pierre -Alexandre Rousseau and Dale Begg - Smith. In the World Cup season 2007/ 08 he binned twice as runner-up.

Due to injury, Roberts had to pause almost the entire 2008/09 season. In December 2009 he was back with a third place in the world rankings. He participated in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and drove to 19th place. In the winter of 2010/11 was a 10th place his best World Cup result.
