Patrick Deneen

Patrick Deneen ( born December 25, 1987 in Redmond, Washington) is an American freestyle skier. He specializes in the moguls and dual moguls mogul disciplines. In 2009 he was World Champion mogul.

Biography

Deneens father was a partner and manager of the ski Hyak on Snoqualmie Pass in Washington State. The son received home schooling, so he had plenty of time for sports. The age of seven Deneen denied the first Alpine ski races, in his youth he practiced the sport of Reining Riding out. At the age of 15, he decided finally for mogul skiing. On 15 January 2005 he gave his debut in Lake Placid in the World Cup. After a break due to injury, he won the 2006 moguls bronze medal at the Junior World Championship.

During the 2006/07 season Deneen youngster competed in the Nor- Am Cup. With good performances in this continental championship, he secured a spot in the World Cup again. On 18 January 2008 he took the first World Cup points when he was in Lake Placid third parties; he repeated this result, two days later at the same place. In the course of the 2007/08 season, he established himself five other top - 10 finishes ( including another third place ) on top of the world. This earned him the Rookie of the Year award.

Deneens achievements in the 2008/ 09 season were highly inconstant and ranged from 3 to 47th place. At the 2009 World Championships in Inawashiro. In Mogul Competition, he succeeded for the first time, the new jump back X flawlessly in both races - a backflip with crossed skis - to show. Thus he secured with a big points lead the world title. At the beginning of the season 2009/10, followed again give inconsistent performance. With a victory at the U.S. excretions but he secured qualification for the Olympic Winter Games 2010. During Olympic competition in Cypress Mountain, he fell and was classified to 19th place. In the World Cup then followed by two podiums in Åre.

On December 11, 2010 Deneen won in Ruka first time in the World Cup Moguls Competition. In the season 2011/12 was followed by three more wins, giving second place in both the overall and in the discipline standings. In winter 2012/13 Deneen scored six podium finishes in the World Cup 2013 in Voss, he won the bronze medal in both disciplines. In the winter of 2013/14 he scored three World Cup podium finishes.
