History
The village was settled about 1856 and is named after the German city of Trier.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.5 km ², consisting entirely of the country.
New Trier is located within the Hampton Township, not in the New Trier Township, as one might suspect. Minnesota State Route 50 leads as the main road through the town.
