Nižný Lánec

Nižný Lánec ( until 1948 slovak " Nižný Lánc "; Hungarian Alsólánc ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia with a population of 429 (as at 31 December 2011). It is located in Okres Košice - okolie kraj part of Košice.

Geography

The municipality is located in the southern part of the basin Košická kotlina, about 23 kilometers southwest of Kosice and three kilometers northeast of the border with Hungary. The only four -kilometer-long and one kilometer wide area extends along the creek Kamsky creek, at the transition to the hill country Bodvianska pahorkatina (Hungarian Cserehát ) rises south of Nižný Lánec, in its course feeds an approximately six-acre storage pond and north of the community channel over the Perínský in the Ida, a Bodva Creek flows. The center is located at an altitude of 197 m nm in shallow, durchzogenem of numerous small drainage ditches terrain. South of the village reached the collection Pustý vinohrad a height of 301 meters above the sea.

Neighboring communities of Nižný Lánec are Velka Ida in the north, Perín - Chym with the district Vyšný Lánec the east and Buzica the south and west.

History

In 1268 the village was first mentioned in writing, a source from the year 1298 witnessed a village called Lanch, which later became the Hungarian and the Slovak Lánc Lanec was.

After the destruction by the Turkish hordes, the village recovered only slowly. 1772 were counted ten families in 1828, the village had already 36 houses with 259 inhabitants.

1910, the village had 269 inhabitants, of which 265 Hungary, three Slovaks and a German. Until 1918 Nižný Lánec / Alsólánc was like all lying in the county Abaúj- Torna and mostly Hungarian-speaking places the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia. After the First Vienna Award they were from 1938 to 1945 again in Hungary.

Population

According to the results of the 2001 census lived in Nižný Lánec 405 inhabitants, of which

  • 51.36 % Hungarians,
  • 24.94 % Roma,
  • 11.85% Slovaks,
  • 0.49% Ukrainians.

11.36 % of the inventory counting residents did not respond.

Attractions

  • Roman Catholic St. Peter and Paul's Church ( Rímskokatolícky kostol svätých Petra a Pavla )
  • This former manor house with a classical facade, a chapel and adjacent farm buildings was built in the early 19th century. After the death of the owner, who left no heirs, the manor came into the possession of the community. After 1945, the site was used as a granary, after renovations in the 1961s years, it still serves as the seat of the commune office and as a cultural center.

Economy and infrastructure

The community has retained its rural character. The residents work in agriculture or commute to the industries in and around Košice. The village has a grocery store and a small pharmacy.

Through the municipal area the road from Kechnec goes according Rešica. From the Nachbatgemeinde Buzica from roads lead to the cities Moldava nad Bodvou and Košice. The nearest train station is in Čečejovce on the railway line Košice - Barca Rožňava five miles away.
