Nordic Cross flag
The Scandinavian flags have the common feature on the Scandinavian cross.
As a sign of kinship in the Nordic family of nations many Scandinavian and Northern European countries or regions with a Scandinavian cross in the respective flag. Exceptions to this are, inter alia, Greenland and Sápmi ( Lapland ), whose flags instead of the cross at the same point and have a circle.
Instead of the term " Scandinavian Cross", the term used in heraldry Philip Cross is in use.
Another name is the Northern Cross in analogy to the constellation of the Southern Cross, which is shown many times in national flags. This also unofficially known as the Northern Cross constellation of the swan but has no effect on the Flaggengebung.
