North Rügen Bodden

The North Rügen Bodden or Rügenscher inner Boddenkette are a vorpommersche Bodden chain in the Baltic Sea. They are almost completely surrounded by the island of Rügen and its peninsulas. So borders in the north of the bow, the peninsulas Wittow and Jasmund and the headland Schaab the Bodden chain to the north. To the south lies the rügische Muttland. One of the highest points of the surrounding Endmoränenzüge include the Rugard (118 m) in Bergen, the Temple Mount (50 m) in Bobbin, the high Hilgor (43 m) at New churches that Banzelvitzer mountains (45 m) at Rappin and Muhlenberg (25 m) between Buschvitz and Stedar.

In the West, the Bodden chain has by Vitter Bodden over a narrow connection to the Baltic Sea. Through this narrow strait exchanges are done with salt water so that the water to the East is becoming brackish. The Bodden chain is highly structured. The North Rügen Bodden edged along its banks from higher Endmoränenzügen alternating with smaller tongue basin. Between the towns of Ralswiek and Liezow at the dam between large and small Jasmunden Bodden, the mutual Endmoränenhöhen approach to less than 1 km distance. The Little Jasmund is connected only over a small canal in Lietzow with the remaining bay.
