Nowa Kuźnia, Opole Voivodeship

Neuhammer (Polish: Nowa Kuźnia ) is a town in Upper Silesia. Neuhammer located in the municipality Proskau ( Prószków ) in Opolski powiat (district Opole ) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship.

Geographical Location

West of Neuhammer flows the Proskau, a tributary of the Oder that accumulates to Neuhammer pond at the site.

History

The village was mentioned in documents in the 17th century for the first time as " Neuhammer ". In the village there once were ironworks and village consisted only of workers' houses. When the works were received, was the Count of Proskau residents lands and turned them into gardeners. 1784 had Neuhammer 16 gardener houses and belonged to Proskau. In 1865 the town had 16 gardeners, cottagers nine and four Anger Häusler. Furthermore, a Kretschmer ( innkeeper ), a Viktualienhändler, a blacksmith, a tailor and a shoemaker in the village were a miller, a resident. At this time the students were enrolled after Chrzumczütz.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 voted 92 voters to remain in Germany and 80 for Poland. Neuhammer remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 392 inhabitants in the village. 1939, the place had 377 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Opole.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Nowa Kuźnia and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Opolski. On 11 July 2006, the German Neuhammer was in the community Proskau, plays, introduced as a second official language. On 30 April 2010, the City also received the official German place names Neuhammer.

Neuhammer pond

The Neuhammer pond and surrounding countryside have been declared a nature reserve in 1957. The size of the area is 20 hectares.
