Nurse with Wound
Nurse with Wound is founded in 1978 by British musician Steven Stapleton avant-garde band.
History
Steven Stapleton, who had previously worked as a roadie for various Krautrock bands, including Guru Guru and Kraan, received by Nicky Rogers supply, convenient to use a recording studio. Together with John Fothergill and Heeman Pathak founded Stapleton Nurse with Wound and made first recordings, which were very spontaneous. So Nurse with Wound produced the first album Chance Meeting on a Dissecting Table of a Sewing Machine and an Umbrella, which was published in an edition of 500 pieces.
Over the years, Nurse With Wound to a solo project of Stapleton, who with changing musicians ( Colin Potter, Andrew Liles and others) or alone produced more albums. The dark style of earlier works, the strongly oriented towards krautrock, surrealism, Dadaism and Musique concrète, transformed over time to a more minimalist style. The music is also influenced by noise, ambient, free jazz and brutism, coupled with Stapleton's humor - it is on the album Salt Marie Celeste, a one-hour recording of a sinking ship, surprising to hear a bicycle bell in the final minutes.
The layout of his albums designed Stapleton himself, who operated under the pseudonym Babs Santini also as a performing artist. Chance Meeting ... was included in the list of The Wire 's " 100 Records That Set the World on Fire (While No One Was Listening ) " of the music magazine of the same name in 1998.
Stapleton lives with his wife and occasional co- musician Diana Rogerson in County Clare, Ireland.
