The NWA World Tag Team Championship ( to German NWA World Team Championship ) is the highest wrestling titles can win the day teams in the National Wrestling Alliance.
Although not a member of NWA TNA was more, they had team secured the rights to the NWA World Heavyweight and the NWA World Tag title until May 2007. While these two titles in the last 5 years ( since the founding TNA) were exclusively fought in TNA, this can be, since the separation of TNA, now happen again at all the events that are subject to the NWA or recognized.
Different previous versions
Between 1950 and 1992 there was no official World Tag Team Champions in the National Wrestling Alliance. Some of the members of leagues this situation to their to-use and crowned their own World Tag Team Champions. Since most of them were actually defended only in a specific region of the U.S., they could not really be described as World Championships. The following versions of the NWA World Tag Team Championship existed:
- San Francisco version (1950-1979)
- Chicago Version (1953-1960)
- Georgia version (1954-1969)
- Minneapolis version (1957-1960)
- Texas version (1957-1982)
- Mid-America version (1957-1977)
- Central States version (1958-1963, 1973-1979)
- Los Angeles version (late 1950s 1979-1982 )
- Florida version (1961-1969)
- Detroit version (1964-1980)
- Vancouver version (1966-1967)
- WCW or Mid Atlantic version (1975-1991)
Current version of the title
1992 the NWA decided to hold a tournament for the NWA World Tag Team title and to nominate official Champions. From this point, the Mid-Atlantic version of the title that was defended in World Championship Wrestling, was the official release of the title. The first official Champions Terry Gordy and were " Dr. Death " Steve Williams.
Current Champions
The current NWA World Tag Team champions Dark Fight Club (Jon Davis & Kory Chavis ). They defeated The Usual Suspects (AJ Steele & murderer One) on May 15, 2011 in Warner Robins, Georgia.
