Neighboring communities
Obersasbach bordered to the north and west, following in part the Beavers, at the county seat Fuerth. East of the Rednitz is mostly the border to Fürth and Nuremberg city area. In the south of Obersasbach is Stein.

History
Incorporations
On 1 January 1976 parts of the territory of the dissolved municipality Leichendorf were incorporated with then about 150 inhabitants.

In the current legislature (2008-2014), the CSU with Birgit Huber, the first mayor. The second mayor is Franz Xaver Forman (CDU ). Third mayor is Norbert Schikora (The Greens).

Upper Asbacher Market Days
In the 14 - day rhythm in each case the upper Asbacher Market Days will be held on Fridays. In the center of the town hall here mainly agricultural products are offered.
Upper Asbacher Culture Days
Every year there are the upper Asbacher culture days on a weekend in June. Here, among other sculptures will be inaugurated by regional artists.

City Library
The Town Hall is located in the basement of the public library. This includes approximately 20,000 books, videos and CDs. All media can be borrowed free of charge.
Youth House
Near the church of St. John, in addition to the Pestalozzi School, is the Youth House Oasis, which offers a variety of recreational activities for young people.
Economy
In Obersasbach there are numerous craft shops, several supermarkets, bakeries and butchers. There are also several cafes, bars and restaurants. There are also smaller industrial establishments, and an active nationwide advertising agency. The small businesses especially foster regional offer. In order to strengthen these local providers, the upper Asbacher Trade Association was launched. This has around 50 members and organizes a yearly trade show.
Traffic
Road
Obersasbach is located on the Rothenburgerstraße, which is the main traffic artery of the city. The Rothenburgerstraße begins in Nuremberg on Plaerrer and is next to the intersection of Von - der-Tann -Straße ( B 4 R) State Road 2245, these flows near Oberdachstetten in the federal highway 13, it is the old high road from Nuremberg to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. There are connections to the motor roads and motorway network via the Nürnberg- Kleinreuth Südwesttangente. Obersasbach suffers from heavy traffic caused by commuters and heavy traffic.
Railway
Through the urban area, the railway line Nuremberg - Crailsheim, on the inside upper Asbach the two breakpoints Unterasbach and Obersasbach are running. The route is served by the S-Bahn line S4 in the 20/40 minute intervals.
Until September 25, 1986 Obersasbach was also developed by the Bibertbahn at the former breakpoint Zirndorf - Altenberg.
Transport
The city Obersasbach is in the tariff area of the transport association Greater Nuremberg and is well served by numerous bus routes. The connection to Nuremberg to Gustav -Adolf- Straße Underground Station are the city bus lines 70 to 72 of VAG and the regional bus 113 of the OVF ago. Direct connections to Fürth there with a few trips through the regional bus lines 112 and 152 In addition, in Obersasbach, on lines 150, 154 and 155 of the city bus Fuerth / Obersasbach, the compounds according to Fuerth, Stein and S-Bahn produce.
It is contemplated to extend the future Nuremberg U -Bahn line U3 ( Nordwestring - Gebersdorf ) with a branch to Obersasbach. An implementation is not expected in the medium term, as the city of Nuremberg only have to build the track to Gebersdorf, also the financing is still unsecured.
Attractions
The Church of St. Lorenz is a simple geschlemmter hall building with a three-sided choir ( 1st half of 15th century) and a square bell tower on the east end of the ship. The polygon corners of the choir are occupied by buttresses and a Kaffgesims Open slender tracery windows, the wall surfaces. Inside the hall is spanned by a wooden barrel ceiling and the chorus shows a net-like ribbed vault, in which the vault area are painted with the four evangelist symbols and stylized plants in fresco technique.
On the other side of the street a former milk house is preserved.
Nature reserve
East of the Upper Asbacher districts Altenberg and Unterasbach is the nature reserve Hainberg, with the largest uninterrupted sand dry lawn in northern Bavaria. Until the early 1990s the Hainberg was used as a military training area of the U.S. Army.
Due to the terrain flows of cross creek that forms a pear-shaped in outline pond in the middle. This little creek is (of which the place name is derived ) also called Asbach and is located exclusively on the upper Asbacher municipality. In the upper part straightened strongly in the second half of the 19th CENTURY for agriculture and channeled, restrained Renaturisierungsmaßnahmen since 1990, in the area of grove hill more natural course with the manmade pond. It opens at the remote forwarder between Obersasbach and Nuremberg in the Rednitz.
