Obergerlafingenstrasse

Obergerlafingenstrasse is a municipality in the district water office of the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland.

Geography

Obergerlafingenstrasse is located on 462 m above sea level. Level, 6 km southeast of the canton chief town of Solothurn (air line). The village extends on the alluvial plain between the Emme in the west and the Ösch in the east, on Sagibach, Solothurn in the southern Plateau.

The area of ​​1.5 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the groundwater- rich gravel plain in the central water office. The communal land lies on both sides of the Sagibachs and extends in a narrow strip to the south in the Obergerlafingenstrasse forest ( 466 m above sea level. Population

With 1116 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Obergerlafingenstrasse belongs to the medium-sized municipalities in the canton of Solothurn. Of the residents 97.1 % are German, 1.2 % Italian-speaking and 0.8 % speak French (as of 2000). The population of Obergerlafingenstrasse amounted in 1850 to 136 residents in 1900 to 378 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population continued to rise steadily (1970 888 inhabitants). The settlement area of Obergerlafingenstrasse has grown together almost completely with that of Zielebach.

Policy

On 28 June 2009, the council was for the period from 2009 to 2013 selected. Although the Swiss People's Party could not win a seat for himself, it was represented at the end of the term of office by a change of the local councilor Marcel Zuber of the non-party to the SVP in the municipal council. Economy

Obergerlafingenstrasse was until the mid-20th century, a predominantly coined by farming village. Today, the farming and fruit growing and cattle breeding have only a marginal position in the occupational structure of the population. Many other jobs are in the local retail industry and the services available. Since the 1960s, several small and medium-sized enterprises have settled in Obergerlafingenstrasse due to its good location. Today, companies in the construction industry, the electrical industry, the window construction, a carpenter and a printer are represented in place. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the regions of Solothurn and Bern.

Traffic

The community is conveniently moderately well developed. It is located on a link road from Biberist after Koppigen. The nearest links to the A1 ( Bern- Zurich ), which partially forms the eastern boundary of the municipality, located 2 km from the center. History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1278 under the name Obergeroluingen. Later, the names Upper Gerolfingen ( 1363) and Obergerlafingenstrasse published ( 1449 ). The place name is derived from the Germanic personal name Gerolf.

In the Middle Ages Obergerlafingenstrasse was probably part of the reign Koppigen. Later it formed together with low Gerlafingen, today Gerlafingen, its own little rule. In 1466 the village was purchased by the town of Solothurn and assigned to the Bailiwick of war Stetten. Was not until the 1665 Treaty Wyniger on the high justice of Bern Solothurn. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798 ) Obergerlafingenstrasse belonged during the Helvetic Republic to the district Biberist and from 1803 to the district Kriegstetten, which was officially renamed in 1988 in the district water office.
