Goms is a municipality in the district of Goms in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It was created on 1 January 2009 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities Ulrichen, Obergesteln and upper forest.
Geography
The municipality is located in the upper part of the Upper Goms Valais below the Rhone glacier at the headwaters of the Rhone.

Goms is integrated by the Matterhorn -Gotthard -Bahn into the public transport network. All three villages ( Ulrichen, Obergesteln and Upper Forest) have their own railway station on the route. In Upper Forest is the loading point for the cars through the Furka Base Tunnel to Realp in Canton Uri.
The Obergoms is also the starting point of the three roads over the Grimsel, Furka and Nufenen.
