Ödön Földessy

Odon Földessy [ Odon føldɛʃi ] ( born July 1, 1929 in Békés, Hungary ) is a retired Hungarian athlete.

At the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki in the long jump won the American Jerome Biffle with 7.57 meters ahead of his compatriot Meredith Gourdine with 7.53 meters. As best European Odon Földessy won the bronze medal with 7.30 meters.

1953 jumped 7.76 meters Földessy Hungarian national record. At the European Championships in Berne in 1954 Földessy won the qualification with 7.39 meters. In the final, he won a gold medal with 7.51 meters ahead of Poland's Zbigniew Iwański at 7.46 meters.

In Melbourne at the 1956 Olympic Games Földessy resigned from 6.96 meters as 21 qualifying. At the European Championships 1958 in Stockholm, he was with 7.20 meters tenth.

Odon Földessy was from 1950 to 1959 every year Hungarian champion in the long jump, with the exception of the year 1956. Using the 4 x 100 - meter relay Újpest Doja Budapest, he was Hungarian Champion in 1952 and 1954. At a height of 1.85 m his competition weight was 72 kg.
