Life

He was 1986 World Junior Champion, eight-time German champion, most recently in 1996, and several times runner-up at other events in the country.

In 1989 he won silver at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest. The following year, he won at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow and at the European Championships in Split with a width of 8.25 meters, achieved in the second attempt, and in 1991 he triumphed at the World Indoor Championships in Seville.
