Oita (Japanese大分 市, -shi) is a city and seaport and administrative center of Oita prefecture and is located on the Japanese island of Kyushu at the Beppu Bay.

Oita TS Semiconductor is a joint venture between Toshiba and Sony Computer Entertainment. This company was involved in the production of the main processor of the PlayStation 2, called the Emotion Engine, and parts to the graphics processor of the PlayStation 3.

Oita is the home of the football club Oita Trinita from the J. League, whose games are played in Kyushu Sekiyu Dome. This was also a venue for the World Cup 2002.
