Orlando Pizzolato

Orlando Pizzolato ( born July 30, 1958 in Thiene ) is an Italian former marathon runner.

In 1979 he finished fifth at the Mediterranean Games in 1980 and eighth at the Spanish Open Championships. His breakthrough came in 1984 when he won the New York City Marathon. In 1985, he was sixth at the IAAF World Cup Marathon in Hiroshima, won gold at the Universiade in Kobe and defended his title in New York City. The following year, he finished third in the Boston Marathon, silver medal at the European Athletics Championships in Stuttgart and was third in New York City.

A seventh place finish at the World Athletics Championships 1987 in Rome followed in the fall by a sixth in New York City. In 1988 he finished seventh in Boston, ran at the Olympic Games in Seoul, ranked 16th and won the Venice Marathon.

1979, 1983 and 1984, he won the Giro di Castelbuono.

Orlando Pizzolato is a qualified physiotherapist and masseur.
