Orlík nad Vltavou

Orlik nad Vltavou, until 1963 Staré Saddleback ( German Altsattel ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 22 kilometers south-east of Pribram and belongs to Okres Pisek.

Geography

The place is located on the left side of the Vltava River on the Orlik dam. Passing through the municipality, the state road I/19 between Březnice and Milevsko.

Neighboring towns are Chrást in the northeast, Kostelec nad Vltavou in the east, Nevězice in the south, and Probulov Králova Lhota in the southwest, Lety in the west and Kožlí in the northwest.

History

First news of the village Staré Saddleback date from the year 1288th Since the end of the 13th century, the existence of a parish church is occupied.

Until the replacement of patrimonial regimes in 1848, the town is part of the reign Worlik and its history was closely connected with the castle. 1850 he produced the community Orlik, which included the districts Králova Lhota, Stare Saddleback, Probulov and Žďákov u Stareho Sedla. 1880, the municipality Staré Saddleback was formed with the hamlets of Orlik and Žďákov u Stareho Sedla; Králova Lhota and Probulov were self-employed.

Between 1956 and 1961, the Orlik dam was built on the Vltava river, sank in the Žďákov. 1963, the name of the famous castle was transferred to the municipality.

The district Višňovka emerged in the 1950s, south-west of Stare Saddleback in connection with the construction of the dam.

Community structure

The community Orlik nad Vltavou consists of the districts Stare Saddleback ( Altsattel ) and Višňovka and the local situation Orlik ( Worlik ). The former district Žďákov u Stareho Sedla ( Schdakow at Altsattel ) was flooded after 1957.

Attractions

  • Castle Orlik nad Vltavou, the former Gothic castle was built on a rocky spur above the Vltava, 1820 was the installation of a 143 -hectare castle park. After construction of Orlik Dam, the castle stands on a peninsula in the lake.
  • Church of St. Prokop in Staré Saddleback, the Gothic building was remodeled in 1654 for the first time. Its present Baroque appearance was the house of God at the second conversion 1753-1754.
  • Niche chapel and statue of St. John of Nepomuk on the way from Staré Saddleback after the castle erected in the 18th century
  • Žďákovský most, the bridge of State Road 19 passes about 50 m above the Orlik dam. It is 541 meters one of the longest Einbogenbrücken Europe.
  • Memorial for the victims of the Roma camp in Lety, on the mountain Krahulik, west of the town
