Ornes
Orne is a commune with 6 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meuse in the Lorraine region.
Geography
The territory of Orne located 15 kilometers northeast of Verdun and consists primarily of forest ( Forêt de Verdun, Bois d' Hingry ). In Orne Orne tributary of the Moselle rises.
History
The village was one of nine in the First World War (1914-1918) destroyed villages and one of six that have not been rebuilt. The place is now a memorial. Before its destruction in Orne lived about 1300 inhabitants. Today the town is a deserted village, but is still considered a community.
