Ostrá Lúka

Ostra Lúka ( until 1927 slovak also " Ostrolúka "; Hungarian Osztroluka ) is a city and a municipality in central Slovakia with 288 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011) and is located in Okres Zvolen, a part of the higher administrative unit Banskobystrický kraj.

Geography

The place is situated on the northern edge of the basin Pliešovská kotlina between the mountains and the Selmec Javorie, 11 kilometers from Zvolen located. Through the municipal area of ​​the creek Suchy Potok, a left tributary of the Hron flows.

History

Ostra Lúka was first mentioned in 1332 as Stroluca, according to some sources, it appears already in 1280. Through the Middle Ages the village belonged to the manor of Burg Dobra Niva. In the early 15th century, there is evidence of a wooden Gothic church whose foundations next to the Catholic cemetery can be seen. The best known family of the village is the Ostrolucký the family to which the village belonged since the late 15th century and lived until the Second World War. In the 17th century the family built a Renaissance castle in the country place, partly Classicist style in the 18th century. The family held a number of important functions of the county Sohl. In the first half of the 19th century Ostrá Lúka is connected to the national Wiedergeburg the Slovaks, in particular with the person Ľudovít Stur, who visited the village several times.
