America

In America, the Pacific coast is the west coast.

Australia and New Zealand

The settlement of Australia is mostly concentrated along the fertile eastern coast of the Pacific, for example, Sydney and Brisbane and Great Barrier Reef. Tourism is a major economic factor in the region, eg Surfing, diving, fishing and swimming.

In New Zealand, the east coast is bordered by the Pacific Ocean. The north island has two large bays ( Bay of Plenty and Hawke Bay). The South Island has an elongated, straight coastline, bordered by two peninsulas ( Banks Peninsula and Otago Peninsula ). As in Australia, this region is a tourist destination, including because of the surfing, fishing and whale watching.

Geology

Be found on the Pacific coast next big mountains: The Rocky Mountains in North America, the Andes ( Cordillera de la Costa in South America), Southern Alps, Australian Alps, Owen Stanley Mountains ( Papua New Guinea ) and the mountains of Japan and the Korjakengebirge in the Russian Far East.
