Paczyna

Paczyna ( German: United Patschin ) is a town in Upper Silesia in the Toszek ( Tost ) powiat in Gliwice in Silesian Voivodeship in Poland.

Geographical Location

Paczyna is located seven kilometers south-east of the municipal center Toszek, 16 kilometers northwest of the county town of Gliwice ( Gleiwitz ) and 37 kilometers northwest of the voivodship Katowice.

Neighboring towns of Paczyna are in the northeast Pniów ( Pniow ), in the southeast Paczynka (small Patschin ) and in the southwest Bycina ( Bitschin ).

History

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 233 voters voted to remain in Germany and 319 for Poland. Great Patschin remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 1433 inhabitants in the town. On August 8, 1936, the town was renamed in hard Lingen. In 1939 the place 1463 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Tost - Gleiwitz.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Paczyna and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Katowice Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Gliwice and the new Silesian Voivodeship.
