Paris Opera Ballet

The Ballet de l' Opéra de Paris, the Paris Opera Ballet.

It has its seat in the Opera Garnier and consists of a total of 183 dancers who have enjoyed almost all of their training in our own ballet school, the Ecole de Danse de l' Opéra in Nanterre near Paris.

The admission of the candidates who enter the ballet ensemble between 16 and 20 years of age, will be decided depending on the positions to be filled in an annual selection of a competitive nature. Thereafter, further, organized annually competitions allow the rise in the ballet hierarchy. This is divided into five stages, namely, from the lowest rank of the " quadrille " about the " coryphée " and the " sujet " to the " premier danseur " (1 dancer ), while the most senior level " étoile " ( solo dancer ) on recommendation of the " directeur de la danse ", that is the artistic director, is achieved by nomination by the director of the opera. The dancers divorced at the age of 42 years from the Ballet de l' Opéra again.

In the Palais Garnier ballet ensemble are 4 classrooms and 5 sample rooms are available, possibly also the famous " Foyer de la Danse ", which follows on the back of the stage. The lessons take place in the morning, the samples in the afternoon, unless performance takes place, sometimes in the evening. If the " Ballet de l' Opéra " occurs in the new Opera Bastille, private lodges and sample rooms are also available there.

The care of the " Ballet de l' Opéra " is for the " Directeur de la danse ", which is supported by a director, a choreographer, a General Director and five directors. The curriculum is taught by seven teachers.

History

The history of the Paris Opera Ballet dates back to 1661 when the French King Louis XIV, the Royal Academy of Dance ( Académie Royale de Danse ) founded. The 1713, also founded by Louis XIV dance school of opera, is the oldest existing ballet school. In the same year, Louis XIV made ​​the opera with his ballet company of 20 dancers to a solid state device. After only eleven years after the building burned to the Opera, during a ballet performance again. It was due to the quick action of the former ballet master Jean Dauberval that it did not come to disaster. In the same year a new building was erected elsewhere.

After the departure of Dauberval Maximilien and Pierre Gardel took over the management of the ballet. After his brother's death, Pierre Gardel worked as a choreographer and ballet master until 1829. Under his leadership, among other Psyché was first performed 1790-1829 564 times.

1820 had to move again the opera. The new building was in the Rue Le Peletier.

Twelve years later, was able to admire the first peak dance the Parisian public, as Marie Taglioni appeared in La Sylphide.

The last great ballet Giselle that time was premiered in 1842.
