Passau–Neumarkt-Sankt Veit railway

The railway line Passau Hbf - Neumarkt-Sankt Veit ( also referred to as Rottalbahn ) is a single-track, non-electrified branch line in southeastern Bavaria. It is with a length of 97 km, the longest branch line Bavaria.

History

Construction

It was built in two stages. After the start of construction in 1878 was September 1, 1879, the 63 km long section of Neumarkt-Sankt Veit- Pocking, opened as a secondary path. On October 4 1883 she was awarded connecting to Landshut. After approval, the eastern continuing construction in 1884, the 35 km -long section Pocking -Passau was completed in the years 1887 and 1888. Operation
