History

Neumarkt was born on August 14, 1269 from the Lower Bavarian Duke Henry the XIII. founded. Neumarkt from 1366 had a market court with extensive own rights. In 1369 the Landshut Duke was the seat of the country judge and curator for the new judicial district of Neumarkt in the later castle Adlstein set. The eponymous Benedictine monastery of Saint Vitus, which had a closed Hofmark here, was founded to only in the nearby town Elsenbach 1121 by Dietmar Edler of Lungau and in 1171 moved to the Vitus mountain over Rott, took place in 1802 the resolution. On January 1, 1972, the formerly independent communities Elsenbach, Feichtenschlager, Hörbering and Wiesbach were incorporated. On May 1, 1978 parts of the territory of the dissolved municipality Thambach were incorporated.

Attractions
