Pat Toomey

Patrick Joseph " Pat" Toomey ( born November 17, 1961 in Providence, Rhode Iceland ) is an American politician. Since January 2011, Toomey is Senator for the state of Pennsylvania in the United States Senate.

Life

After leaving school, Toomey studied political science at Harvard University. After graduating, he first got a job at Chemical Bank. After that, he was with the company from 1986 Morgan Grenfell worked. When the company was acquired by Deutsche Bank in 1991, Toomey left Morgan Grenfell.

From 1999 to 2005 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 15th Congressional District of Pennsylvania. Toomey is a member of the Republican Party. In 2004, he ran for his party's nomination for the U.S. Senate, but was defeated in the Republican primary just the long-term incumbent Arlen Specter. Six years later, however, Toomey was set up by the Republicans as a candidate for serving Senate, and won 5 November 2010 election to the U.S. Senate in the state of Pennsylvania. He succeeds in this Senate seat Arlen Specter, who had switched to the Democrats in 2009 after it had indicated that he would lose the primaries to the re- nomination by his party this time against the more conservative Toomey. However, Specter was defeated then also in the Democratic primary to Congressman Joe Sestak, Toomey then prevailed against the turn.

Pat Toomey is married to Kris Toomey and has three children. He lives with his family in Zionsville, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. Toomey is a member of the Catholic Church.

Positions

Tooney is a supporter of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which allows the possession and carrying of firearms. As a supporter of the Tea Party movement, he is against higher taxes. However, he is willing to abolish tax breaks and loopholes.
