Pedro LisÃmaco de Jesús VÃlchez VÃlchez
Pedro de Jesús Lisímaco Vilchez Vilchez ( born May 19, 1929 in Jinotega, † February 19, 2013 ibid ) was Bishop of Jinotega.
Life
Pedro Lisímaco Vilchez, son of a peasant family, visited the Colegio " Rubén Darío " de Managua. The Bishop of Matagalpa, Arnulfo Isidro Oviedo, sent him on to education at the Colegio de Granada Salesian School, where he studied with Miguel Obando Bravo SDB. At San José de la Montaña seminar in El Salvador, he graduated in philosophy and theology. He received on February 6, 1955 by the Bishop of Matagalpa, Octavio Calderón y Padilla, the ordination. He was in the Diocese of Matagalpa, and in his first at the Cathedral of Matagalpa, later director of the Colegio San Luis. With a scholarship he was able to study 1960-1962 canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. After his return, he worked in pastoral care in Nicaragua.
Pope John Paul II appointed him on 19 July 1984 on the prelates of Jinotega. The Apostolic Nuncio in Nicaragua and Honduras, Andrea Cordero Lanza di Montezemolo, donated to him on 8 September 1984, the episcopal ordination; Miguel Obando Bravo were co-consecrators SDB, Archbishop of Managua, and Julián Luis Barni Spotti OFM, Bishop of Juigalpa. With the elevation of Territorialprälatur to the diocese on April 30, 1991, he was appointed the first Bishop of Jinotega. On 10 May 2005, Benedict XVI accepted. its age-related resignation.
He was involved in the Charismatic movement and for the Cursillo Movement. In 2013 he was awarded the honorary citizenship of Jinotega.
