Phoenician (Unicode block)

The Unicode block Phoenician ( Phoenician, U 10900 to U 1091 F ) contains the characters of the Phoenician script, a left-handed consonants font used in ancient times in Lebanon, Palestine and Syria.

To the encoding of this block was disputing. Many members of the Unicode Consortium were of the opinion that the Phoenician without any problems let unify with the Hebrew. Ultimately, the view has prevailed that Phoenician is a separate font, and so this block was recorded.
